World Champion is No. 1 at "Loko" Sofia 2022 with Coach Katrin Velkova
Radina Tomova, World Champion with the rhythmic gymnastics ensemble, is the No. 1 athlete of OSK “Lokomotiv” Sofia for 2022.
She was honored at a special ceremony by the club’s president, Dame Stoykov.
Tomova’s personal coach, Katrin Velkova, is the No. 1 coach for the past year.
“This award is very special to me because this year marks 10 years since the founding of the rhythmic gymnastics club within the club I lead,” said Velkova. She received her award from the mayor of Nadezhda district, Eng. Dimitar Dimov.
“The club has over 1600 registered children in 15 sports. Over 60 coaches work with them. There are clear rules for work, but the coaches have full freedom. We are ending a successful year for “Lokomotiv,” said Dame Stoykov.
Number 2 in the ranking is European boxing vice-champion Svetlana Kamenova, and in third place is the bronze medalist from Euro 2022 in judo (U23) in Sarajevo, Georgi Gramatikov.
Team number 1 is the volleyball club “Lokomotiv 1929-Nido”, which won three silver medals in three age groups at the national championship.
Special awards were given to the club’s basketball legend and Olympic vice-champion from Moscow 80, Diana Brainova, on the occasion of her 70th birthday, and Olympic boxing champion from Tokyo 2020, Stoyka Krasteva, for her contribution to the development of sports. She was at the ceremony with her 6-month-old daughter Tsvetelina.
