Champions from "Lokomotiv" Sofia Set a Personal Example in the "Together We are Hope" Campaign
The rhythmic gymnastics and boxing teams of Sports Club “Lokomotiv” Sofia joined the “Together We Are Hope” campaign, implemented by the “Nadezhda” district administration.
“I invited prominent athletes from the rhythmic gymnastics and boxing teams of the red-and-black children’s school to set a personal example for their peers. Unfortunately, acts of vandalism against facilities in children’s and sports playgrounds are a common practice in Sofia. This year alone, we built 6 new playgrounds in the Nadezhda district, but what’s more important to me is that we manage to keep them intact and clean. I believe that champions unite people and are role models not only in sports halls but also in life,” said the mayor of Nadezhda district, Eng. Dimitar Dimov, at the launch of the “Together We Are Hope” Campaign.
The “Golden Girl” from the national rhythmic gymnastics team, Katrin Velkova, who is now the head coach of the young gymnasts at “Lokomotiv”, national rhythmic gymnastics competitor Radina Tomova, vice-world and European boxing champion Stoyka Petrova, European champion Krasimir Dzhurov (52 kg) in the juniors category, and silver medalist in the girls’ category Diana Al Shaar (80 kg) called for self-awareness and adherence to the operating rules of the new playgrounds. “The new colorful and attractive playgrounds are ours, and we must protect them together!” stated the great and young champions of “Lokomotiv” Sofia.
“Only the combined efforts of citizens, administration, and businesses can make our city a better place to live. That is why our message to the local residents is “Together We Are Hope”. It is important to make a concerted effort and be intolerant and uncompromising towards vandalism against public recreation and play areas,” added the mayor of Nadezhda district, Dimitar Dimov.
