Gymnast Radina Tomova Was Named Athlete #1 of OSC Lokomotiv Sofia for 2022.
The world champion with Bulgaria’s rhythmic gymnastics ensemble, Radina Tomova, was named athlete #1 of OSC Lokomotiv Sofia for 2022.
Tomova received her award personally from the club’s president Dame Stoykov today during a special ceremony. Tomova’s personal coach Katrin Velkova received the prize for coach #1 for the past year.
“This award is very special to me because this year marks 10 years since the founding of the Lokomotiv Sofia rhythmic gymnastics club, which I lead,” said Velkova.
The president of Lokomotiv Sofia, Dame Stoykov, gave his assessment of the now-past year 2022.
“We’ve been developing sports at Lokomotiv (Sofia) for 10 years now. The club has over 1,600 registered children in 15 sports. Over 60 coaches work with them. There are clear rules for work, but coaches have complete freedom. We’re concluding a successful year for Lokomotiv,” Stoykov shared.
In second place in the athlete rankings was European boxing vice-champion Svetlana Kamenova, while the bronze medalist from the European Judo Championship under 23 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgi Gramatikov, ranked third.
Among the teams, volleyball’s Lokomotiv 1929-Nido was chosen as the best, having won three silver medals in three age groups at the national championship.
Special awards were given to the club’s basketball legend and Olympic vice-champion from Moscow 1980, Diana Braynova, on the occasion of her 70th birthday, and to the Olympic boxing champion from Tokyo 2020, Stoyka Krasteva, for her contribution to sports development. Krasteva attended the ceremony with her 6-month-old daughter Tsvetelina.
